Progress at the MAC

The Manchester Municipal Arts Commission received a building permit from the City on Thursday, October 30, 2008. The HVAC is in place, Tri-State Sprinkler Systems will begin putting in sprinklers in the next two weeks, and then the actual renovation construction will begin. We may not make our anticipated December opening, but the end is much nearer!

We hope to have you stop by and see the progress for yourself. Of course we hope you will continue with your support of all of our programs and in the development of new ones.

Guilds resume meetings

The Manchester Arts Center is excited to announce that the Wee Actor's Guild and the Teen Actor's Guild will resume regular meetings, on Thursday nights, beginning on September 25 at 5:00 pm. The two groups offer the opportunity to kids ages 7 - 18 to become exposed to theater.

After an organizational meeting with several past members and their parents Jackie Masiella, the adult coordinator of the groups said, "The kids want to do more than just the one performance this year. They expressed interests in community service, being involved in the Christmas Parade and possibly a field trip to see a production out of town."

The first meeting will involve both groups and will be held at The First Presbyterian Church in Manchester. For more information please contact 728-2338 or you can e-mail questions to: WAGANDTAG@hotmail.com.

Boundless Theatre Experiences for Youth

Coffee County is very fortunate to have not one (1), two (2), but three(3) groups offering theatre experiences for youth from 6-18 in our area!

Tullahoma offers PACT; MRC offers MRC-TAG and MRC-WAG and the Manchester Arts Center offers Phoenix-TAG and Phoenix-WAG.

Though meeting times may be different, as well as rehearsal times and show places and times, all are interested in involving the youth of our area in meaningful and creative events. The offerings at the Manchester Arts Center, under the auspices of the Manchester Municipal Arts Commission and its nonprofit status, will be posted on our website, as well as notification in newspapers, radio, and channel 6 TV.

We hope that every interested young person in our county and the surrounding areas will find a group, a time, an interest for them. It is our desire to work together to foster creativity, thinking “outside the box,” self confidence and youth who will be prepared to work to solve the problems of our community, our country and our world!
